Psychiatry for children, adolescents and adults

Connection

“The energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from relationship.”

Psychiatry

Douglasdale Therapy Centre has a team of psychiatrists who assist children, adolescents, adults and families.

Our psychiatrists are medical doctors who focus on mental health and emotional wellbeing. They assess, diagnose and treat a range of mental health conditions, and when needed, can prescribe medication as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

We follow a client-centred approach, which means every consultation is tailored to the individual. Each session is unique and may include in-depth assessments, medication management and supportive therapy, depending on the person’s needs.

We interact with people daily — at school, at home, at work and in public spaces. When mental health challenges begin to affect these areas, professional support can make a meaningful difference.

Psychiatric care helps to stabilise mood, improve focus, manage anxiety, and support overall emotional balance. It provides a safe and confidential space to better understand symptoms, explore concerns and work towards practical solutions.

The goal of psychiatry is not just symptom relief, but helping individuals function well in their daily lives and feel more in control of their mental health.
